Joe has played volleyball for 20+ years, both competitively and recreationally. Joe began his volleyball coaching career when his daughters and some friends wanted to play in the 4th grade (9 years ago)– they formed the “Naya Warriors” with Portland Parks and Recreation. Joe was fortunate to coach the same group of girls – “Naya Warriors” from 4th grade till they finished middle school, 8th grade. Joe coached the JV2 team at Wilson High School for three seasons and also assisted the Varsity team during those seasons. Joe currently coaches the JV team at Jefferson High School where he also teaches science. There are young ladies that Joe has had the pleasure of coaching on high school teams at 7 of the 9 Portland Metro High Schools. Joe’s coaching focus is on strong fundamentals and developing a lifelong love for the game of volleyball – he wants girls to be able to truly enjoy the game and continue to play as adults. This is Joe’s seventh year coaching with PDXVB.
